Summer Date Ideas
- Make a bucket list of restaurants in your area that you’d like to try and start knocking them off one by one. Don’t always go to your old stand by. Mix it up. Plan to try a new restaurant once a month. Pro tip, I have an ongoing list in my notes app. Then, when we try out a new restaurant I make a note of what we ordered and what we loved so that we can remember later.
- Try a new ice cream shop. Our favorite time to go out is after the kids are in bed. We grab some dessert and walk around. It’s a great simple time of connection.
- Go golfing. Even if you aren’t good at it. Find a 9-hole course and don’t take yourself too seriously. If that’s too intimidating, a nice round of putt putt is always a good too.
- Plan an afternoon for kayaking. I love kayaking. I love being out on the water. I am randomly really good at it and just enjoy it. Ya know what? I think I want to plan a kayaking date with my husband.
- Go hiking. We don’t have mountains or even hiking trails around us but there are a few state parks and tons of walking trails. There is something about being in nature that allows me to relax and enjoy time with my husband.
- Find some water to enjoy. The beach, a lake, a river… find something near you and just go sit and snuggle together. Bring some refreshments and reminisce about your dating days.
- Exercise together. Play pickle ball or tennis. Go for a run if that’s your thing. Find something you both enjoy and do it together or find another couple for a double date.
- Go to a local fair. Ride the ferris wheel, eat some cotton candy. Be young.
- Take a bicycle ride to a local coffee shop.
- Go to a farmer’s market. Enjoy trying some new food and shopping.
- See a baseball game.
- Camp out. Sleeping under the stars. What could be more romantic?
- Enjoy an outdoor concert.
- See the animals at the zoo.
- Have a night away at a hotel. How fun would it be to get a hotel room on the Fourth of July and enjoy the view of fireworks and some alone time?!
The goal here is to enjoy your summer connecting with your spouse. Summer is such a great time to unplug, get outside and enjoy being active together.
Next week, in our dating series, I will share a list for my local readers of fun things to do in the DFW area. As always, thanks for reading. Let me know in the comments below if you have anything to add to this list.
