I love summer! It is my favorite season. I love getting outdoors and enjoying activities with my family. I love pool days and fourth of July celebrations. I love longer days and dinners outside.
My daughter finished Kindergarten so I am looking forward to starting new summer traditions this year. Here are a few that I have come up with:
Last day of school
- Ice cream after pick up
- Last day of school pictures. Here is a free printable.
- Pizza for dinner.
First Day of summer party
1.Decorate with some fun summer decorations.
You can decorate their door with some fun streamers. Put a summer banner hanging in the living room. Decorate the kitchen table with a fun tablecloth and layout some summer surprises. More on that in number 3.
2. Have a special breakfast
Grab some donuts, make some waffles, have some fresh fruit cut out in fun shapes. It doesn’t have to be elaborate just something to make the day a little extra special. Write them a sweet note to let them know how proud of them you are.
3. Summer gift basket
Don’t tell my kids this, but I tend to make ‘gifts’ out of things that I plan to buy them anyway. Do they need some new summer clothes? Add it to the basket! Want to get them new goggles for the pool? Add it to the basket! I plan on adding in a couple books and summer learning activities too.
hello summer banner | crayons markers | coloring tablecloth | Highlights workbook | Addition + subtraction workbook | Brain Quest workbook | Big First Grade Book | First Grade Big Workbook | Pool diving toys | Swimming Goggles | Kid’s swim Towels | Spill proof bubbles | bubble wands | toddler Flashcards puzzle
4. Picnic lunch at the park
After enjoying a slow morning at home we plan to have a picnic lunch at the park. We have a ton of fun parks around us that I want to check out. Again, don’t over think this. Pack up some sandwiches, fruit and chips. Let your kids play for a little bit and then enjoy eating in the fresh air.
5. Enjoy some water fun
Find a splash pad, jump in the pool, set up sprinklers in the yard. Enjoy the heat with some water fun.
6. Summer Movie Night
Grab a pizza or your favorite takeout and enjoy some family time together. Put on a movie, put away other devices and focus on your kids.
Fun Movie Suggestions:
- The Parent Trap
- The Sandlot
- The Little Mermaid
- A Goofy Movie
- Luca
- Finding Nemo
- Moana
