New month, new challenge. We did a sugar detox in January. A love challenge in February. This is a new month and with it brings a new challenge. Spring cleaning.
Now, some of you are excited about this. You love the opportunity to freshen up your space and someone handing you a to do list is a dream come true. And some of you immediately said, “I’m out! Not interested.” But stay with me.
We are busy people and often times it’s hard to simply keep up with our dishes and our laundry. The thought of doing more is completely overwhelming. Believe me, I get it. But I am here to help. I have planned simple tasks broken down over the next four weeks. You do what you can, when you can. Then hopefully you will be in a much better place in a month.
Spring cleaning tips
- Pick one area and stay focused. I know how it is. You start cleaning and then see another area needing your attention and you switch over. Then you end up with three or four different tasks that you started but never finished. So, we’re going to pick one area and we are going to work until that one area is complete. You got this!
- Get out any supplies you may need. Cleaners, rags, vacuums, mops, etc… That way you aren’t running around mid project. Then when that task is done, you put all the supplies away. Follow through all the way to the end.
- Set the mood. Open the windows, put on some music. Put on some comfy shoes. My age is showing here but every time I spend a few hours cleaning barefoot, I regret it! So just give your feet the support they need from the get go.
- Include your loved ones. Do not let those little ones at your feet be your excuse for why you can’t get things done. Don’t let their desire to be with you frustrate the process. Give them a rag and a spray bottle and let them wipe down the cabinets. Fill the spray bottle with water. They will never know.
- Have a plan. I want to purge my house. I have needed to do this for a long time. I do not have the time or energy to do it all at once. My plan is to do it a little at a time. But the biggest area that I struggle with is what to do with all of the junk that I am getting rid of. I have a pile in my garage that has been there for far too long. So here’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to set a date on the calendar for a yard sale (if you desire). We’re going to work hard up until that date and then whatever things we have left after that date, we donate or we throw away. If the yard sale doesn’t happen, then it wasn’t meant to be. Get that stuff out of your house.

Spring Cleaning supplies
We’re going to keep things simple. I try to keep toxins low and I make my own cleaners. I also don’t own a bunch of fancy tools. But we’re going to get the job done without those things.
I purchased these towels a couple of months and they are great. I love the waffle texture.
I love that these glass bottles come in three different colors. Easy to keep track of your different cleaners.
Vinegar is great to have on hand for all of your cleaning needs. It helps dissolve dirt and grime. It also kills bacteria.
Baking soda paired with vinegar is just what you need to fight stains and grease.
