24 Goals in 2024
Let’s talk New Year’s Resolutions. I no longer set New Year’s Resolutions. Here’s what I do instead. I started setting goals like this a few years ago. I am a goal junkie. I love making monthly goals, weekly goals and for sure yearly goals. New Year’s Resolutions have failed me somewhat in the past. I always start with so much ambition and expect myself to become a different person on January 1st. I expect perfection and when that doesn’t happen. It’s over. Everything I set out to do is ruined before February comes.
Here's How the 24 in 2024 works
A few years ago I shifted to making goals for the year. Things that I could cross off one by one. This is not my original idea. A friend shared it with me and she got it from someone else. I don’t know who to credit but just know, it’s not mine.
This year, I am setting 24 specific goals for the year. I work the whole year at marking them off. I believe I started doing this in 2019 with 19 things on my list and have added one more each year. I am not going to lie to you. I have not completed my whole list every year but it has been a great way to set intentions for the year.
The sky is the limit with these goals. They can be simple tasks to cross off, habits to create, places to visit, house projects, workout goals, a specific number for savings. It’s really whatever you want to work towards.

Just like New Year’s Resolutions, it’s not enough to make the list. You have to make a plan for how these things are going to happen. I have made a list for the first quarter and for the first month. I plan to assess at the end of January and make my February goals. Then at the end of March, I will make my second quarter goals. I am trying to be as specific as possible. It is not enough to write down a goal to read 24 books. You need to write down what those books are going to be. Then you need to schedule time in your day to read. I also made a rule for myself that I have to read the books that I already own before purchasing more. I want to challenge myself to read a couple fiction books because I don’t know what the last fiction book I read that wasn’t a children’s book.
I am excited for the coming year. I am excited to keep pushing towards growth in all area.
