Detoxing My Life:Bathroom (pt 2)
Last week I shared all the toxin free products that I have switch to in my daily routine. You can read all about it here.
This week I am sharing my cleaning solution swaps. Currently, I am using homemade cleaners but I will also share a few companies that I have been looking into. Toxin free living is on the rise so therefore there are more products coming on the market. As always, do your own research before purchasing any new products to guarantee that they are in fact made with clean ingredients.
Homemade Cleaners
All Purpose Cleaner
I have made several homemade cleaners and this one is my favorite. It leaves my granite countertops squeaky clean and I love it! I use this all purpose cleaner on everything and it is great.

- 1 cup water
- essential oil
DIY Fizzy Toilet BombsI made these and keep them in a jar and then just throw one in the toilet bowl before I give it a good scrub. You can follow the recipe on this blog post. Listed below are the ingredients you will need.

- 15-20 drops of essential oils
Homemade Glass Cleaner
- 1 cup warm, filtered water
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 2 tbsp rubbing alcohol
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
Toxin Free Cleaning BrAnds
I personally have not made the plunge to purchase any of these products but I have researched a few and have some that have been recommended by friends.
- Branch Basics
- BlueLand
- Aunt Fannie’s
- Attitude Cleaner
- Thrive Market has some great options
While we’re on the topic of cleaning, I will share my new toxin free laundry detergent. I know that you can make your own pretty easily but I have not tried that yet. I have been using Tide Free and Gentle since my son was born. Even though that product is marketed as the safer choice and is free of dyes and perfumes, after doing some research I found that some of the ingredients are rather harmful. You can read about it on this website. I tried out Molly’s Suds and liked it so I plan to stick with that for a while. I prefer it not to have a scent. It has done a great job cleaning my clothes.
All of this can get pretty overwhelming, but so far we have officially conquered the bathroom. A place that we spend time in every day. We can control what goes on our bodies and what toxins we expose ourselves to. So do just that. Take control. One product at a time. One space at a time. Which area should I conquer next? Do you have any tips for me? What was helpful? Tell me what cleaning products you use. Share it all below in the comments.
